Yesterday Lexus Malaysia had launched the all new Lexus CT200h the first of its kind here in this region. This new breed of hybrid vehicles was recently launched back in the ‘wasabe’ land of the rising sun in January this year. Lexus has dubbed the CT200h as the world’s first hybrid luxury compact car with all the finesse like any other Lexus vehicles that was rolled out from its factory. Speaking of factory, the CT200h is built at Toyota’s factory in Kyushu Japan and I have been to this factory before even tough I just went there driving along its vicinity of the factory. The factory is very big with the large Toyota name and badge in the front facade of the factory and with its test track at the back of the factory quite high on an elevated terrain thus impossible to see what car is running on the test track.
Going back to the CT200h, Lexus Malaysia has introduced two variants namely the Standard version and also the Luxury version. Both car has the same exterior look with some minor difference that only if you are keen to spot the difference. The exterior design of the car like any other Lexus has been treated with its L-finesse design philosophy where Lexus express the perfect balance of precision and power. This perfection is further elevated with the use of twin LED low beams that was integrated with an arrowhead shape daytime running light (Luxury model) with the latter comes as a standard equipment for both model. As for the Standard version, the car equipped with halogen lamps with manual levelling with the higher refine model comes with automatic headlamp levelling. The car was design very sleekly with a low drag coefficient of 0.29 to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce the wind noise for a more serene drive, a signature of every Lexus vehicles. Both variants also feature a compact and aerodynamic door mirrors with integral LED turn signal indicator that features a two tone finish for a more visual minimization.

On March 1st, Volkswagen will be presenting the new Tiguan in a world debut at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show. Global demand for this Volkswagen has long been very high with 572,000 units delivered worldwide. The small brother of the Touareg is now poised to continue this success with a new look and further advanced technologies.
The Tiguan is still the only SUV in its class that can be ordered in two different versions: one for on-road use and one specially tuned for off-road driving – including the two top trim level models "Track & Style" and "Sport & Style". New assistance systems such as fatigue detection, the camera-based main beam control systems Light Assist and Dynamic Light Assist, as well as the lane-keeping system Lane Assist will now expand the range of available options. Also new in the Tiguan: the XDS electronic differential lock. In Europe, the perfected all-round vehicle will launch on the market in August. In Germany, it can already be purchased starting at an entry-level price of 24,175 euros.
This Volkswagen SUV has become a global success, on the one hand due to its technical properties, but also thanks to its striking and timeless design. Volkswagen has further developed its lines, in particular by front and rear restyling that reflects Volkswagen’s new design DNA. The new Tiguan can once again be delivered in two versions with different angle of approach values. While the classic variant was designed more for the challenges of urban driving with an angle of 18 degrees, the Tiguan with the larger 28 degree angle of approach will appeal to those drivers who like to use their SUVs on rough terrain as well.
Three of the seven engines offered in Europe – all of them charged four-cylinder direct-injection engines – are new to the Tiguan engine line-up. The four petrol engines (TSI) produce between 90 kW / 122 PS and 155 kW / 210 PS. The three diesel engines (TDI) span a power range from 81 kW / 110 PS to 125 kW / 170 PS. The 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) is also available as an option in the new Tiguan. All Tiguans with BlueMotion Technology (BMT) also have a Stop/Start system. They reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.7 l/100 km in the new SUV. Clearly, this Volkswagen – available in either a front-wheel drive or naturally an all-wheel drive (4MOTION) version – is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the world.

In its presentation of the new Golf Cabriolet at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show, Volkswagen is writing a new chapter of a global success story. The four-seater has an innovative soft top with an electro-hydraulic drive that opens the Golf’s top in just 9.5 seconds.
The new Volkswagen’s styling follows that of its hard-top three-door counterpart, but it shows a high level of independence with a new rear section, lower profile roof line and more swept-back angle of its front windscreen frame. The convertible’s image is especially dynamic when ordered with optional bi-xenon headlights. Always a standard feature: the LED rear lights like those of the GTI. Other standard safety features offering peace of mind are the automatically deploying roll-over bar, front airbags, side head/thorax airbags, knee airbag for the driver and ESP.
The new Golf is one of the quietest convertibles today. Its soothing quietness is attributable to the new soft top that was optimised in specific ways. It also has a standard hydraulic drive that opens the Golf’s top extremely quickly. The top can also be opened or closed during driving at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
Ideal for cruising with a convertible are the six turbocharged direct-injection engines whose power outputs range from 77 kW / 105 PS to 155 kW / 210 PS. Four of the petrol engines (TSI) and one diesel (TDI) are available with the DSG dual-clutch gearbox; while three of the engines are available with energy-saving BlueMotion Technology. Just how efficiently the new Golf Cabriolet handles fuel is illustrated by the 1.6 TDI with 105 PS and BlueMotion Technology: It only consumes 4.4 l/100 km (equivalent to 117 g/km CO2).
In Germany, advance sales begin tomorrow with prices starting at 23.625,- Euros. Essentially, all of the features offered in the classic, hard top Golf are also available in the new Golf Cabriolet. The only feature that will definitely not be offered is a sunroof …

Peugeot has worked hard over the past few years together with its partners here in Malaysia under the stewardship of Nasim Sdn Bhd to bring a host of new Peugeot vehicles here in Malaysia. I still can reminisce my younger days where it is hard to spot a Peugeot model on Malaysian road but in the past few years, the Peugeot brand under the steering of Nasim Sdn. Bhd has seen a tremendous years of sales and also a acceptance of customers to the brand with the first model which is the Naza 206 Bistari started to roll of the Naza Automotive Manufacturing factory in Gurun Kedah.
Since that, streams of Peugeot models have entered the Malaysian market under the Nasim umbrella with almost major models in the stables of Peugeot brand is here in Malaysia. One of the models that have been widely accepted in Malaysia is the Peugeot 308. The Peugeot 308 has entered the Malaysian market since 2009 and there are two models available here namely the 308 VTi and the more aggressive and sportier model, the Peugeot 308 Turbo. Last weekend, Nasim Sdn. Bhd. has arranged a test drive for me to review the 308 and the ride for my weekend was the Peugeot 308 VTi. If you have not notice or maybe you have not heard, Nasim Sdn. Bhd has launched in July 2010, a face lifted 308 VTi that features a more refresh look and more kits on hand. The most noticeable different is the look of the front bumper especially the front grille design where Peugeot has decided to uniformly features the same front end look of the 308 VTi with the more aggressive sibling the 308 Turbo. I’m sure you will still wondering what has change to this new Peugeot 308 VTi. Shown below are the items that were features in this new 308VTi.
• Leather wrapped steering wheel
• Sporty black dails instrument panel
• Electric folding side mirrors
• New Interior fabric design
• Cruise control with speed limiter
• New multi function display
• New 16 inch “Santiaguito” alloy rims.
So this 308 has seen an upgrade, let see how does this car drives and what are the features that has lured the customers to buy this car.
