Facelift Vios is here!!

Yes as I have mentioned in this title, UMW Toyota will unveiled the Toyota Vios facelift in Malaysia very soon. How soon, the date that I have been informed is 16th April 2010. Featured in this blog, are the pics of the face lifted Vios. Well on the engine and transmission side, UMW Toyota still stick to the 1NZ-FE with the same 4 speed automatic with Super ECT. The changes are subtle with only cosmetic changes both on the outside and also on the inside. There is also some upgrade on the specification.

Let’s talk the changes on the outside first; firstly the grill has been given a new face with a chrome treatment and also the fog lamp has been treated with silver coloured housing instead of a black housing. As for the rear of the car, the changes are on the rear combi lamp with the new lamps pose with some crystal coloured looking effect which is neat. Besides that, there is a chrome package on the rear license plate garnish and also body side molding for the Vios 1.5G and Vios 1.5 TRD Sportivo. Frankly, I really like the changes on the rear end of the car compared to the front end of the car. The new rear combi lamp does lift the common looking rear end of the Vios to a new level. Besides that, for the wing mirror, now all models has the features of power adjustable and retractable as standard with the Vios 1.5E and above were furnish with turn indicator on the wing mirror.

Well let’s move on to the changes on the inside of the car. First, you will notice this nice looking steering wheel. The steering is now featured almost a flat bottom with some silvered coloured treatment on the side trim of the steering pad. The changes does makes the Vios look cool especially for the Vios TRD Sportivo version with its black leather and red stitching. As for the seat, the Vios 1.5J and Vios 1.5E sports with a new fabric which is nicer compared to the current outgoing model. For the 1.5G, the seat is covered with a combination leather which is beige in colour and the dashboard is now a two tones coloured with the top half is in shades of brown and the lower half is in beige colour same with the leather combi seat. As for the audio system, the J spec still features a single DIN head unit with CD player and 4 speaker system. Up the ladder, the E spec was furnish with a 2-DIN head unit with MP3, WMA, CD player capability blasting on 4 speakers but sadly there is no USB or IPod connection being thrown in for the facelift. For the G and TRD Sportivo version, the head unit was a dashboard integrated with MP3, WMA and CD player capability but sadly it’s also lacks the USB or IPod connectivity.

On the safety side, now Airbag has becomes a standard features even for the J specs. Previously, the J spec comes without Airbag, but now it comes as standard on the driver side. Up the ladder, the E spec has been furnished with dual Airbag now instead of single Airbag on the outgoing model. The specs for G and TRD Sportivo remains the same with dual Airbag as standard as before.

Now let’s move on to the price, with all the new features and added safety, there is bound a price increase pass on to the consumer. The increase depends on the models you choose, with the increase of an extra RM 2000++. The price of the facelift Vios as shown below:
Vios 1.5J (MT): RM 71,990.00
Vios 1.5J (AT): RM 76,090.00
Vios 1.5E (AT): RM 81,500.00
Vios 1.5G (AT): RM 87,300.00
Vios 1.5 TRD Sportivo (AT): RM 92,000.00

There will be 4 Metallic and 1 Non Metallic colour to choose from. Excited! head down to your nearest Toyota showroom this 16th April 2010 if you are planning to own a brand new car.
