New spy shots of Proton Lancer spotted at KLIA!!!

Good day to all readers of Auto Insider Malaysia. I'm sorry for not updating my blog for almost 1 week now. I just went back from a team building programme with my company and as you may know or have encountered, come back from a holiday or training, work is waiting for you. I've been busy for the past few days thus I can't update my blog as always.

Well now I'm online, I have some juicy shots being supplied by readers of Auto Insider Malaysia. You can head to his blog post here for full stories about the spy shots of what might be the latest baby from Proton, the Waja replacement model.

As being reported in his blog post, the shots were taken at KLIA, most probably a test unit or a CBU unit from Mitsubishi for a trial run at Proton. You can see some differences of the Proton Lancer with the front end design has features some of design language of a normal Proton car especially the grill of the car. The rear end of the car looks normal to me but there are some changes on the lower side of the bumper. Could it be some sort of diffuser design like we can see on the Kia Forte or the TRD version of the Toyota Vios.

On the interior of the car, there are no big changes on the interior, the only changes we can see here is the absence of in built ICE head unit to make way for a Double DIN head unit from Clarion. Well this might be good as customer here in Malaysia love to modify their cars especially the head unit. With this normal slot, maybe we can add in some Double DIN LCD head unit with a built in GPS navigation that will look nice in this car.

As for the engine, based on the blog post, the engine that was fitted on this car was from the GEMA Alliance engine that powered the Lancer, the new Sonata and also Kia Forte 2.0. There is another version of 1.8 litre engine available there during the shots were taken. As from some insider info inside Proton said, there will be 3 variants on offer with a 1.8 Litre manual and CVT and the high line version will be the 2.0CVT transmission. As for the price, they remain tight lip about it, but some indication that the price might be in access of 70K. Who knows the price might be lower than that. Have your say on the comments section.

Enjoy the pics after the jump

  1. Wow,if the price is around RM70K,for sure its value for customer's money. MMC's car price currently higher than that. For 2.0L the price offered by Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia is ~RM120K. So,i think its great for Malaysian if they plan to buy this car, cheaper, refresh styling and have MMC's DNA built inside it. If the youngsters who plan to convert it into pure lancer, they just might need to spend some small money, replace front & rear bumper. So, we just wait till this model launch by Proton at the end of this year.

  5. Yup funtasticko, my latest sources indicate that the rear end design does not differ much from the original lancer.Just the bumper design is a bit different as it potrays a diffuser like design like on those Vios TRD or KIA Forte. Maybe you can whip some design based from my info here.
