Looks like the waves of electric cars are starting to gain grounds in the world of automotive scenes. Now Ford has just recently introduces the Ford Focus five door hatchback electric cars during the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in the US. The car features an Aston Martin like front grille with the electric drive being provided by an electric motor that has an equivalent of 123hp mated to a single speed transmission.

The car is capable of achieving a top speed of 136km/h with total range being around 160km in a single full charge but this range numbers still not yet official. The battery which is supplied by LG Chem can be charge within three to four hours by using the rapid charge wall mounted 240V charge station. The Ford Focus Electric also being the first model to used MyFord Touch driver connect system by Microsoft being develop especially for electric cars and also a Smartphone application dubbed MyFord Mobile where the car owners can view the battery charging status and also the remaining amount of battery content via the single touch of the Smartphone interface.

On our shores, Proton currently still actively testing the electric vehicles concepts by testing the system on the Proton Saga and also Proton Exora. So far based on the news, the first batch of Proton electric cars will be used by the government official in Putrajaya as fleet test vehicle program and if all things goes well, we might see the fruitful of this project in 2012 when Proton starts to rolls out the first commercially produce electric cars. Hopefully what being offered by Proton are on par or not better then what other car makers are doing right now.
