PRESS RELEASE: TCIE Delivers First Quester UD Trucks!!!

In response to the ever increasing demand for reliable transport solutions in Malaysia’s growing economy, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), the authorized sole distributor for UD Trucks in Malaysia, made its first batch of delivery of the all-new Japanese heavy duty truck, Quester, to its long term customer, Kim Ma Oil Palm Transport Sdn Bhd (Kim Ma).

Quester is UD Trucks’ latest range of customizable trucks that was launched in Malaysia end of last year and which saw immediate pre-orders received. Based on a completely new and modern heavy duty truck platform, the Quester range was designed to serve a wide range of applications in mining, construction, distribution and long-haul transportation in Asia’s growth markets and beyond.

A truck handover ceremony was held at TCIE’s headquarters in Batu Caves recently, where TCIE presented mock key and scale model of Quester to Kim Ma, a logistics company based in Triang, Kemayan in Pahang. The event signified the purchase of 15 units of Quester by Kim Ma.

Operational for over 25 years now, Kim Ma’s new purchase of the Quester comes as no surprise as the company has been using UD trucks for over 20 years and has relied on the efficiency and durability of this Japanese make. Currently operating an extensive fleet of approximately 200 trucks, this latest purchase of the Quester further adds to the 70 percent of the company’s existing fleet of UD trucks.

“I have been in the logistics business for over two decades and I have tried and tested on various trucks. I find that Japanese trucks, especially UD Trucks, are most compatible with the nature of my business. It is great for both short and long distance – from transporting raw palm to oil mills, and then hauling the product to the refinery,” said Mr Harley Liew C.C, Director of Kim Ma Oil Palm Transport Sdn Bhd.

With Quester, UD Trucks and TCIE offer to the market the first affordable Japanese heavy-duty commercial vehicle that allows customization to most transport requirements, while enabling excellent fuel consumption and high average speed. Developed with versatility in mind, Quester offers customers a unique experience of adaptability and affordability within its class that is currently unavailable in the market.

“Purchasing a truck goes beyond its daily operations capability. The truck’s reliability, user-friendliness and top notch aftermarket service are key elements to ensuring the continuity and uptime of our business. We prefer using UD trucks as maintenance and repair work is comparatively a lot more convenient as most workshops carry Japanese parts,” added Mr Harley Liew.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Wong King Yoon, Chief Executive Officer of TCIE said, “This handover event of UD Trucks’ Quester to our long-time valued customer, Kim Ma, is a truly momentous occasion for us. TCIE has been the sole distributor of UD trucks for over 35 years and apart from offering high quality and cost efficient trucks, we also give our customers value added services and solutions to further enhance their transport solutions. A fine example is our well trained mechanic and technical team who are on 24-hours standby and are ever ready to support in after sales service.”

Emphasizing on UD Trucks’ dedication to enhance its presence and compete in Malaysia, the brand new truck is the pioneer in an entirely new platform and it reflects an ambition to further elevate the UD Trucks’ brand value globally – a brand that has long been associated with durability, strength and quality. UD Trucks is a brand under the Volvo Group.
