Locally assemble Volvo XC60 will be launch next month

Volvo Car Malaysia recently announced that it will locally assemble the Volvo XC60 at its manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor and the official launch of this locally assemble model will be in November 2010. The Volvo XC60 has been a huge success as it is the most popular Volvo model in terms of worldwide sales and it has also been a huge success here in Malaysia as all CBU allocation of this model has been snapped up thus a local assemble is a viable move for Volvo Car Malaysia to offer a premium SUV model for the masses here in Malaysia.

The version for local assembly will be the XC60 2.0 Turbo featuring PowerShift transmission and it will come equipped with many intelligent safety systems such as Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and also Dynamic Stability & Traction Control (DSTC). Besides that, the new Volvo XC60 will also be equip with City Safety which is a pioneering safety technology that helps to avoid low speed collision in the city traffic. What this system does is to automatically slows or even stop the XC60 altogether to avoid a collision or to reduce the impact which may lead to serious injuries.

Volvo Car Malaysia also has thrown in a special goodies when you buy this locally assemble XC60 but it is only limited to the first 60 customers that book the car beginning October 11 and taking the delivery of the car by end of this year and the goodies is worth RM 6000. This package comprises a decor trim air intake, skid plate rear bumper, load organizer, sports pedals and a dirt cover bumper.

Besides that, I just wanted to share my experience driving my car yesterday evening along the road from USJ towards Subang Jaya, and what caught me by surprise is, I saw a glimpse of the all new s60 roaming the road going towards USJ. Sadly, I didn’t manage to capture the picture of this car as I am travelling on the other side of the road and I am on the fast lane, but the glimpse of its headlamp, its sculpture front bumper and also a very distinctive s60 fog lamp caught my attention with it sea weed green colour.

What actually am I seeing. It is the real s60 going on the road test as Volvo Car Malaysia has indicated that is going to launch the s60 next year or it is a parallel imported cars. I’m not so sure. Do share if you have seen this car on the road in the comment section. I will try to dig for more info about this new car. Stay tune!!
