Perodua last week launched a new Myvi variant dubbed the Myvi XT, tailored specifically for today’s Gen Y’s as well as Gen Z’s automotive needs, that comes with an added value of up to RM1,600 worth of accessories and improvements.

The compact carmaker also re-launched its What’s Up! Graduate scheme along with the new Myvi XT variant to further entice first time buyers, particularly fresh graduates.

“We believe that the launch of the Myvi XT and the What’s Up! Graduate scheme will be a good combo as one is made for the young and the other will assist those starting out in owning a Myvi,” Perodua President & CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

He said that the launch of the Myvi XT was also in conjunction with the model’s 9th anniversary this year.

“The Perodua Myvi, which was launched in May 2005, celebrates its 9th Anniversary this year. The Myvi is Perodua’s flagship model, consisting of about 50% of our sales since 2006,” Aminar said. Perodua has sold over 750,000 units of its Myvi model since 2005; making it the best-selling model for 8 consecutive years.

He said that the main target for the Myvi XT is the university students and fresh graduates looking for space, performance, quality yet affordability in a car. Perodua targets to sell 1,600 Myvi XT units per month.

The XT, which means extra, comes in both manual and automatic transmission and in a new colour; Metallic Lime Green; The Myvi XT also comes in Metallic Dazzling Red, Mystical Purple, Glittering Silver, and solid Ivory White.

Further improvements to the Myvi XT include the addition of alloy rims, a new seat fabric, an improved audio system that comes with a USB and Bluetooth as well as a silver painted centre cluster.

In addition to the Myvi XT, Perodua is also upgrading its existing Myvi 1.5 Extreme to include security film, coil mat and a new leather seat cover design, the Myvi Extreme only comes in automatic transmission.

The on-the-road price for the Myvi XT starts from RM41,936.45; while the Myvi extreme starts from RM61,240.50 respectively (Prices mentioned are applicable in West Malaysia).

Despite the new Myvi XT and the upgraded Myvi 1.5 Extreme, Perodua is maintaining its other Myvi variants, which are Myvi 1.3SE and Myvi 1.5SE. In addition, the 3 years free service is applicable to all models including the Myvi XT and the Myvi Extreme.

“Despite all the new features for both Myvi XT and Myvi 1.5 Extreme worth between RM1,000 and RM1,600, we are still maintaining the price for both variants,” Aminar said.
