The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest initiated by UMW Toyota Motor concluded the National phase of more than 1,100 artworks received by many talented children. The deserving nine children together with their artworks were selected as winning masterpieces at the National phase and will compete in the World Contest phase in August 2014. For the National phase, winners were chosen from three age categories: under 8 years old, 8 to 11 years old and 12 to 15 years old.
Since 2004, Toyota Dream Car Art Contest has been conducted as part of Toyota Motor Corporation Japan’s social contribution initiatives. It gives children throughout the world the opportunity to develop an interest in cars and helps them feel the joy and importance of having a dream.
“Toyota Dream Car Art Contest invites children from all corners of the globe to share ideas about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars. We at Toyota believe in nurturing the creativity of the next generation of great inventors, thinkers and dreamers. Every great idea was born in the glimmer of a dream” said Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor.
All winning submissions at the National phase were sent to Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan for the World Contest phase. The top management from Toyota Motor Corporation along with art experts will judge the artworks at the international phase. The winners of the World Contest will win a trip to Tokyo, Japan to attend the awards ceremony in August 2014.
According to Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor, “This ‘Toyota Dream Car Art Contest’ has created great awareness among our local communities, primary schools and customers and I would like to congratulate the 9 lucky winners for their efforts and creativity that made it through to the World Contest.
Lim Xin Ying, 13 years old Category 3 Gold Winner has placed a spot as one of the qualifiers for the World Contest. Her art piece was inspired by a magic Toyota car that brings peace, harmony and healthy life to the world. She hopes that the world will be filled with music and love where everyone will feel comfortable and at peace.
Another happy gold winner for Category 2, Marcus Ang Yu Jack, 9 years old interprets his artwork as a his fun world car for children which consists of five levels and each levels represents interesting places for children to play and learn.
And as for the youngest gold winner who is 7 years old for Category 1, Asher Royce Anthony, whom presented a brand new ‘Eco Car’ that unites all cultures in Malaysia. He and his parents were so eager and overjoyed when he was announced as the youngest gold winner for Category 1.
“I am astonished by the children’s creative minds illustrated through their artworks and demonstrated their understanding of a safer, peace in mind and cleaner environment future Toyota car for a safer and better society in the future,” added Datuk Ismet Suki.
UMW Toyota Motor continues to conduct the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, an annual Toyota international children’s art contest, to Malaysians last year December. The contest was open to children up to 15 years old, who sent their drawings till February 14, 2014.
