PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Motors Recalls Malaysia'a Toyota Hilux, Innova and Fortuner!!!!

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced a Special Service Campaign concerning possible damage of spiral cable in the Hilux, Innova and Fortuner.

The driver’s airbag module in the involved vehicles is attached to a spiral cable assembly with electrical connections that could be damaged when the steering wheel is turned. If this occurs, the air bag warning lamp will illuminate. In addition, the driver’s air bag could be deactivated, causing it to not deploy in the event of a crash.

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has received confirmation from our principal, Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, that there are a total of 82,457 units of Toyota models consisting of the Hilux, Innova and Fortuner manufactured from year 2005 – 2010 sold in Malaysia by UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd are involved in this Special Service Campaign.

This Special Service Campaign is conducted to replace a spiral cable with an improved one on the affected Hilux, Innova and Fortuner. UMW Toyota Motor will contact all Hilux, Innova and Fortuner customers involved to carry out the necessary corrective measures at no cost to ensure our customers’ vehicle remain reliable and at its best performance level. No other models sold by UMW Toyota Motor are affected by this campaign.
