PRESS RELEASE: Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Delighted Its Customers With "Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia" Convoy

Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) recently delighted its customers with an unforgettable experience by organising the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 with the theme of ‘Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia’, in conjunction with the AFF Suzuki Cup final between Malaysia and Thailand.

Suzuki have been the proud title sponsor for the most prestigious football tournament in Southeast Asia since 2008, and with Malaysia’s very own Harimau Malaya playing in the final on home turf at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Suzuki Malaysia decided to drum up support for Team Malaysia through the ‘Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia’ campaign and by organising a special convoy for Suzuki customers and enthusiasts to drive their Suzuki cars to the National Stadium and catch the final match live while supporting Team Malaysia as best they can.

As part of Suzuki Malaysia’s long term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, 23 children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg. Judah, a school for Orang Asli on Pulau Carey, Port Klang enjoyed the time of their lives as they walked out onto the pitch with the players from both teams as Player Escorts just before kick-off. This was also Suzuki Malaysia’s commitment towards aiding in the development of a more knowledgeable, dynamic and motivated community.

“It is hoped that such an initiative will encourage the students of SK Sg. Judah to value their education, which will ultimately provide them with better opportunities that will greatly enrich their lives,” stated Mr. Keiichi Suzuki, Managing Director for Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd.

About 150 Suzuki customers and enthusiasts in more than 50 various Suzuki cars from all over the country took part in the convoy that started off from Suzuki’s 3S Centre at Setia Gemilang Auto in Shah Alam, all the way through the hustle and bustle of the Klang Valley to its final destination at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The colourful convoy of various Suzuki cars were flagged off from Setia Gemilang Auto by Mr. Keiichi Suzuki on Saturday afternoon after lunch and some exciting activities which included a lucky draw where awesome prizes of officially signed Team Malaysia balls were given away.

Mr. Keiichi Suzuki commented, “We organized this AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 and accompanying activities as a means of showing our gratitude and appreciation for the strong support we have received from our loyal customers. They get to cherish and share a memorable experience together against the backdrop of a patriotic and electrifying atmosphere of a cup final match involving the Malaysian national football team. The customers’ enthusiasm and patriotism mirrored the true Suzuki spirit.”

Throughout the drive to the National Stadium, the convoy drew a lot of attention, not just looks, stares and smiles, but also honking of the horn and shouts of “Malaysia!” from other road users, as it is not every day that Malaysians get to see so many different Suzuki cars proudly flying the Malaysian flag in a Police guided convoy.

Upon reaching the National stadium, Suzuki customers and enthusiasts were treated to fun and games at the Suzuki booth. Apart from enjoying themselves taking part in mini games and getting their faces on with face painting, they also enjoyed entertaining performances from Freestylers and Drum Liners, with many of them trying to make their best guesses for the Guess the Score contest to win signed Team Malaysia jersey and balls.

Brothers Prakash and Yoganraj Rajasekharan from Puchong, Selangor, who joined the convoy in their 3 year old White Suzuki Swift, were thrilled and excited to be a part of the convoy.

“We are very happy to be a part of the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 as through Suzuki Malaysia, we got to watch and support Harimau Malaya play in a cup final match, and it is an unforgettable experience that we will cherish. I am very pleased that I bought a Suzuki, as after such a wonderful experience, if I do change my car in the future, top on my list will be a Suzuki for sure!”, said a delighted Prakash.

Mr. Keiichi Suzuki added, “The overwhelming response and support that we have received for the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 has convinced us that our customers thoroughly appreciate our efforts in organising such events for their benefit, as they are outgoing and truly living out the Suzuki ‘Way of Life!’.”

Husband and wife couple Mohd Faidzal Surep and Effa Izuan Abdul Jabar from Batu Pahat, Johor, who took part in the convoy in their Superior White Suzuki Swift Sport, were overjoyed with the convoy and the cup final as it exceeded their expectations.

“We came all the way from down south as we are firm Suzuki fans and we did not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the cup final match live. Even though Malaysia did not win the Suzuki Cup, we are proud to be Malaysians and more than happy to lend our support for the Harimau Malaya team thanks to Suzuki Malaysia who made all of this possible. We are both excited and grateful to Suzuki as it is a brand that allows us to enjoy so many interesting experiences, so we are eagerly looking forward to more organised activities such as this in the future to enjoy this unique Suzuki lifestyle”, said an enthusiastic Mohd Faidzal.

After the match during the prize giving ceremony, Mr. Keiichi Suzuki was given the special honour of presenting the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award to Thailand’s Chanathip Songkrasin.

PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Crowns The Winner Of Toyota Traffic Tots Programme

The Toyota Traffic Tots programme ended on an artistic note with an art competition that drew almost 700 participants from participating private schools. The top three winners were awarded MPH cash vouchers valued at RM700, RM500, RM300 respectively, while 5 consolation winners walked home with MPH vouchers worth RM100.

The art contest, held from September to mid October, was meant to complement the existing Toyota Traffic Tots programme for children that were initiated in 2011. Conducted among Year 1 students, the contest required participating students to complete a picture of a child with one hand outstretched, as if to hold his parent’s hand, and have it coloured.

Sri KL, Subang Jaya, made a sweeping win, with all three top winners and two consolation winners coming from that school. First prize went to Liew Jo Ee, followed by Bianca Sherilyn Lopez in second place and Chai Pei Na in third place. Megan Reyie Lee and Aiden Lim Shi Feng won consolation prizes.

The other consolation prizes went to Farisha Firozdin from Sri UCSI Subang Jaya, Aleesya from Beaconhouse Sri Inai, Petaling Jaya and Laranya Vatsula Chanduru from Sri Dasmesh Kuala Lumpur.

“The art contest brought the Toyota Traffic Tots to new heights, because it required more critical thinking, planning and artistic skills to win,” says Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor, who firmly believes that children learn best through experiential learning.

With the art contest, the children will be able to remember the road safety messages better, he enthused, because they had to create a complete picture out of the template provided.

Marks were given for drawing and colouring skills, creativity and relevance to the theme of traffic safety. The picture template also held traffic safety messages for children, such as holding hands with an adult, walking against traffic and staying within the road kerb when outside.

“Important values such as traffic courtesy, defensive driving, pedestrian safety, abiding by traffic laws and others must be inculcated when children are still small when they are still open to new ideas,” says Datuk Ismet. Once the values are planted and continuously enforced, he adds, the children will be less inclined to follow peer pressure even for dangerous behaviours such as speeding or beating traffic lights.

“Traffic conditions have changed exponentially in the last few decades, and so have social behavior. Today, we are faced with new challenges such as mobile phone distraction and texting while driving or walking among digital migrants,” he says.

Toyota Traffic Tots, directed at digital natives such as 21st children who are born into the world of electrical and gadgets, is a step towards building early awareness on traffic safety. Since its inception three years ago, the initiative has reached over 10,000 children from close to 300 pre-school centres and private schools.

It is important to teach safety values during a child’s formative age when they are most receptive to learning, stresses Datuk Ismet. Recognising this, more pre-schools and schools have requested for their schools to be included into the TTT programme.

“We will be expanding to include more pre-school operators on top of our existing partner, Smart Reader Kids, as well as more private schools,” he adds.

PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Spreads The Joy To The Under Privileged Kids

UMW Toyota Motor organised a Christmas and school holiday treat for the children from Trinity Children Centre, Petaling Jaya and St. Barnabas Home, Klang. This annual festive celebration and school holiday season was organised as part of the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and also to inculcate a spirit of volunteerism and community service among the UMW Toyota Motor personnel.

Over 20 volunteers from UMW Toyota Motor played host to 40 children during a special shopping treat at Paradigm Mall. The Christmas and school holiday ‘double joy’ treats began with a ‘Christmas’ shopping spree and was led up to a fun Christmas dinner time. The children aged between 6 to 17 years old, enjoyed a full dinner spread and were presented with “back to school” goodies. This outreach programme was intended to assure these children that they have friends who care and are not alone in this world.

The volunteers from UMW Toyota Motor were each assigned two children from the homes. Their task for the day included taking the children shopping for their Christmas wish list such as toys and clothes. This outing was a suitable time for the volunteers to have a bonding relationship with the children and foster the spirit of giving and sharing.

According to Datuk Ismet, “Some are orphans and have no place to call home, while others are from broken homes or single parent family. Although most welfare homes take care of their charges well in terms of their basic needs in the form of food, shelter and education, they find it difficult to fulfil the emotional void of the children, especially during festive seasons”.

He also said that through the company’s efforts, we hope to touch the children’s hearts and make a positive impact in their lives where the message of “Hope” and “Love” are felt by all.

The Staff Volunteer Programme is part of the Philanthropic pillar of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). UMW Toyota Motor’s commitment to CSR has been an integral part of its corporate culture since it was established in 1990. Its CSR approach is consonant with its philosophy of ‘A history of service to society’, where UMW Toyota Motor continually seeks opportunities to contribute to the communities where they operate their business.

Trinity Children Centre, Petaling Jaya and St. Barnabas Home, Klang welcomes any donation to help the children. For more information please call Mr George Walters (St. Barnabas) at 017-3206736 / 03-3371 6984 and Miss Mary Moses (Trinity Home) at 016-2427775 / 03- 77813905.

Having had its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show this year, new Passat is revitalized with new design, a new engine and new technologies – offering a new array of driver assistance, infotainment and comfort systems that makes individual mobility safer, more sustainable and more interconnected.

Additionally, the Passat B8 on stage was joined by the Golf GTE - the first plug-in hybrid that embeds the Golf GTI’s DNA. A fusion of sportiness and sustainability, the Golf GTE possesses the exceptional performance inherited from the Golf GTI and has the zero emission option on E-mode. With fuel consumption of only 1.5L per 100 km and a distant range of 939 km in hybrid mode, the Golf GTE delivers a maximum speed of 222 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration at 7.6 seconds. The car does not require any special infrastructure for charging and can be fully charged under 4 hours at any conventional socket.

Another mega star of the evening was the e-Up! – the ideal interpretation of Volkswagen's environmental protection mission with three “zero indicators”. Exhibiting zero emissions, zero fuel consumption and zero noise, Volkswagen’s most advanced electric car provides a strong torque performance of 210Nm and offers a continued cruise of up to 157km. A new solution to urban traffic, the e-Up! is futuristically designed, prides on its environmentally-friendly performance, and offers urban versatility to drivers of all ages.

Our products are designed and built with an aim to meet tomorrow’s demands. They are more fuel-efficient, more powerful, provide greater driving pleasure, and are more comfortable to drive, that too with lesser emissions. Be it our award winning TSI engines or our visionary electric vehicles, sustainable mobility is of prime importance to us.”

Torque that Matters – Engine Labelling

The TSI turbo charged direct injection petrol engine is the product of Volkswagen’s innovative engine technology and also a remarkable example of engine downsizing. The core competitiveness of the TSI engine is its exceptional torque.

It is a more efficient engine with less fuel consumption and higher performance. It allows Volkswagen owners to experience faster, smoother and more stable driving experience, while ensuring fuel economy and eco-friendliness. It improves fuel efficiency, and reduces emissions, and represents Volkswagen’s commitment to social responsibility and a cleaner, greener future.

In order to display the exceptional engine technology and performance of torque of Volkswagen vehicles more prominently for better understanding, Volkswagen brand will gradually change the engine labeling on vehicles sold in the Asian market into the all-new form of torque class plus engine technology. It is a new badging that features Torque to illustrate the performance of Volkswagen models. In Malaysia, the CC and Passat will be first two models to adopt engine labelling.

“In addition to horsepower, torque is a crucial factor that tells the car's performance – high torque offers better acceleration, better performance, better drivability, more driving fun as well as a more convenient driving experience,” said Mr Armin Keller, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia.

NEW LAUNHCES: Lexus Malaysia Launched The Astonishing Lexus RC!!!!

Lexus Malaysia recently unveiled the highly anticipated Lexus RC-350 and RC-F at its luxurious state-of-the-art showroom in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Hailed as the ultimate and most luxurious Lexus High Performance Coupe, the new RC also offers a new emotional design that has never before seen in a Lexus.

The All-New RC-350 and RC-F mark the return of Lexus into the Malaysian Luxury Sport segment and for the first time Lexus Malaysia is offering two models in the sports coupe segment. RC and RC-F are positioned a class above of premium competitors that focuses mainly in driving dynamics and pure styling of the car.

According to Datuk Ismet, President of UMW Toyota Motor in his speech, “The Lexus RC marks a new chapter for Lexus Malaysia, and we are proud to be able to offer customers one of the finest coupes in the market today.” Both the RC-350 and the RC-F have been making waves around the world with the trademark Lexus design together with the Lexus signature spindle grille, making both cars immediately recognisable.

Both models offer state-of-the-art multi-LED headlamps with independent LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs). The headlamps feature uniquely shaped lenses and multi-LED lamps for both high and low beam, this expresses the advanced and sophisticated nature of the new Lexus identity. All three LEDs are lit when the headlight is turned on while an L-shape is adopted during low beam to immediately express the Lexus identity.

The design of the RC-350 coupe is summed up as “coolness over utility” and provides a visual jolt to the onlooker with its low profile, wide stance, short wheelbase and large diameter tyres. Described as a true “2+2” coupe, the RC-350 offers excellent accommodation for driver and passenger with sufficient space for two rear seat occupants.

The interior of the RC-350 is a perfect balance of both sportiness and elegance. The luxurious leather seats are constructed of the same integrated foaming method introduced in 2013 in the IS F-Sport, and offers unparalleled comfort and support. The centre console and door trim on the other hand have been designed to feature a structured layer of parts sitting upon another, a character typical of Lexus to express coupe elegance. Located at the centre is an analogue clock that, just like a luxury wrist watch, makes a bold statement. It symbolises the Lexus interior and is carefully designed.

The interior of the RC-F however, is different altogether. It utilizes a range of sportiness elegance to create an immediate impression the moment the driver enters the cockpit; it is a unique sports model which includes the meters that are directly descended from the original LFA design.

Both interiors also offer a Mark Levinson sound system with high resolution speakers that provide for a 360 degrees spatial envelopment of sound. New to both interiors is the RTI Touchpad as part of the cockpit ‘operation zone’ in the center console that gives the drivers images and vibration feedback for a more responsive control.

On the engine front, the Lexus RC-350 has a 3.5-litre V6 with eight-speed Sports Program Direct Shift transmission. It offers linear performance and can accelerate to 100 kilometres per hour in 6.3 seconds, reach a top speed of 230 kilometres per hour and yet is incredibly fuel efficient.

While the RC-350 is designed to pamper its occupants in luxury and technology, the RC-F on the other hand is a power house in every sense of the word. The RC-F coupe is the most powerful V8 performance car ever developed by Lexus and offers shocking performance and high speed stability.

The engine of the RC-F on the other hand is the most powerful V8 engine Lexus has ever built. It is 12 per cent more powerful than the IS-F engine, on which it is based, and yet thanks to the advanced Atkinson cycle technology, the engine uses as much fuel as the regular RC when cruising.

Speaking at the launch of the new cars, President of UMW Toyota Motor, Datuk Ismet Suki commented, “The Lexus RC-350 injects emotional appeal into the Lexus DNA that is already synonymous with build quality, refinement and reliability. Simultaneously, it is openly intended to raise the brand’s profile for those who seek a car that stirs the emotions with elegance and yet appreciate a sophisticated design and peerless craftsmanship.”

“The RC-350 is not just business as usual for Lexus, it marks the arrival of a new design language for Lexus sports models. Described as “coolness over utility”, it retains the signature spindle grille but features a clearly more aerodynamic and a sharper profile. The RC-F on the other hand takes it to another level with its muscular stance, active rear wing and carbon fiber components,” said Datuk Ismet Suki.

“The experience continuous beyond being a proud Lexus owner. It is shaped through the years by our luxury quality service that has come to be expected of the Lexus brand. In line with the Lexus network expansion and to fulfill the increasing demand, we will be opening a Lexus outlet in Malacca next month. This will bring the total number to 8 outlets where we will ensure our customers’ demand and satisfaction continues to be fulfilled,” concluded Datuk Ismet.

Order taking were opened on the 5th September and it is priced from RM526, 000 for the RC-350 while the RC-F is priced from RM782,000.
