The New Nissan X-GEAR exterior features a sophisticated new chrome V-Strut front grille with smoked horizontal panes that give dynamism to its appearance. The new body side moulding and overfenders accentuate its rugged form. A new front bumper with black sump guard, new roof rails, new V-Spoke alloy rims, new engine hood and fender design, sleeker wing mirror and head lamps complete the new look.

For the rear section, The New Nissan X-GEAR sports a new distinctive tail lamp which emphasizes its horizontal width which complements the all-new rear styling. The new rear bumper design comes with integrated rear reflectors and an LED High Mounted Stop Lamp for added safety and style. 

Complementing The New Nissan X-GEAR styling is its spacious yet comfortable interior, with a new seat fabric design and improved visibility, thanks to its new Fine Vision Meter cluster with Multi-Information Display (MID).

The new three-spoke steering wheel now incorporates control switches for the innovative Wide 2-DIN audio system with AUX Input for a journey full of personalized rhythm. The Multi-Information Display (MID) control switch displays a clean layout and enables one to switch info with your hands still on the steering wheel. 

A spacious trunk and legroom, is complemented by 60:40 split-fold rear seats that double the available luggage space from 383 litres to 769 litres when folded down. The New Nissan X-GEAR’s roof rail has a further load carrying capacity of up to 25kgs, and so is suitable for carrying a mountain bike or even a small canoe! 

Safety on the road is paramount and The New Nissan X-GEAR comes with front seatbelts now equipped with pre-tensioners and load limiters which are in compliance with the latest UNECE crash tests. The New Nissan X-GEAR is powered by a fuel-efficient 1.6-litre HRDE16 all-aluminium, compact and lightweight four-cylinder engine that produces 105PS and 150Nm of torque, mated to a smooth-shifting electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission. With its valve timing control technology, the engine delivers responsive performance, strong refinement and exceptional fuel efficiency. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) helps to provide ease of manoeuverability and handling with better fuel consumption. The advanced suspension delivers an excellent ride and handling at cruising speed or on winding roads.

The New Nissan X-GEAR is available only in 1.6L Auto and with an option for the IMPUL Complete Package (please refer to the appendix below for IMPUL parts offered).

PRESS RELEASE: SCANIA Collaborate With IKBN In The Automotive Engineering Sector



Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd recently officially handed over equipment to Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Kuala Perlis as part of a technological collaboration between the two parties. 

The equipment consists of a DC 11 L01 (340 hp) truck engine with stand, GRS 900 truck gearbox with stand, R 780 truck axle with stand and Universal stand with floor panel which is a fixture stand unit for mounting general component’s during rebuilding and repair.

The wider aspect of the collaboration also includes development of skills and syllabus, industrial training, apprentice programme and employment for graduate students later in Scania.

“This collaboration between Scania and IKBN Kuala Perlis is designed to provide wider opportunities to increase the skills, knowledge and professionalism of students in technical, management and technology fields in order to fulfil the needs of the industry,” said Ulrika Hellberg, Finance Director, Scania Southeast Asia.

“This is in line with the Sweden Malaysia Innovation Initiative, an effort to nurture open and collaborative innovation that provide opportunities for public, private and research institutes to cooperate on multiple levels.”

Also – as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2013 – eight to 10 selected Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates will be selected to do their industrial training as an apprentice in Scania. 

If they are successful during their apprenticeship in Scania, some of these students will then be offered a job. 

Scania will also work with IKBN to develop further education programmes through the Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN) by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, Kementerian Sumber Manusia.

“Malaysia is a fast growing and dynamic country intending to achieve developed status by 2020. The backbone of that growth today and tomorrow is formed by future generations of the workforce. They are all here today in IKBN Kuala Perlis and Scania is proud to be able to contribute to this exciting growth with them,” added Hellberg.

Building on its recent announcement of after-sales service enhancements, Volkswagen Group Malaysia is pleased to announce that it is now centrally-managing a streamlined process for Extended Warranty Programme (EWP) claims with immediate effect. This customer-oriented approach is done in cooperation with its insurance partner and authorized dealer network to ensure a faster processing time and seamless customer experience on all warranty claims.

According to recently appointed Volkswagen Group Malaysia Managing Director Christoph Aringer, “We at Volkswagen are committed to continually improve our customer service standards to be one of the best in the industry. This optimization of our Extended Warranty Programme process is the next step that we are embarking on in order to ensure the vehicle maintenance process at our authorized service centre network is tailored according to our customers’ needs.”

Furthermore, Volkswagen Group Malaysia and their insurance partner also announced today a 1,500 km allowance extension of the corridor of goodwill. The manufacturer recommended service interval mileage at every 15,000 km or 1 year whichever comes first. With the goodwill extension, customers will now enjoy a service interval mileage allowance of up to 1,500 km past their service intervals.

“These adjustments to Volkswagen Group Malaysia’s warranty and servicing programme policies are part of our efforts to accelerate customer satisfaction. At the end of the day, we want to ensure that our discerning customers have more efficiency, flexibility and convenience when servicing their vehicles,” continues Aringer.

These latest moves underline Volkswagen Group Malaysia and their dealer network’s renewed commitment to customer satisfaction, which has seen the recent enhancement of efforts such as the dedicated Volkswagen Hotline to handle all enquiries on Volkswagen’s Extended Warranty Programme (EWP). 

In terms of operation hours, customers can now service their vehicles 7 days a week, with the extension of operating hours for maintenance service on Sundays for 20 Volkswagen service centres in Peninsular Malaysia. Additionally, opening hours at selected service centres in Klang Valley will be extended from 8am to 8pm and the technical teams will operate in double shifts on weekdays to ensure minimal waiting time for Volkswagen owners and enhance the customer experience.

UMW Toyota Motor has recently unveiled its latest full-fledge comprehensive 3S (sales, service and spare-parts) in Kulai to cater for the increasing number of Toyota vehicles in the Southern Region here today. 

The official opening event of the company’s latest 3S center was held at Bandar Indahpura, Kulai, Johor. Officiating the event was YBhg. Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman, UMW Toyota Motor and witnessed by YBhg. Datuk Takashi Hibi, Deputy Chairman, UMW Toyota Motor and Y.Bhg Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor. 

The new Toyota Kulai 3S center is considered as UMW Toyota Motor premier 3S facility in the state of Johor and set to provide better facilities for customers, all under one roof. The company has spent close to RM15 million on this facility in order to deliver its brand promise and the Toyota Quality Experience to customers. 

The 3S centre, featuring on a 2.3 acres land, has a total built up area of more than 50,000 square feet. It is equipped with a spacious showroom that can display up to 5 cars, service centre that can service up to 75 vehicles daily and a comfortable customer waiting lounge with Wifi internet facilities. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor highlighted that UMW Toyota Motor is focused in providing the Toyota Quality Experience (TQE) to customers at every point of contact. 

UMW Toyota Motor currently has extensive network of 97 sales and after sales outlets including dealers, throughout the nation to meet the increasing number of Toyota vehicles in the country. 

“Looking back, 2013 was a challenging year for us. We closed the year with total sales of 92,500 units against the target and a market share of slightly over 14%. Hence, we still maintained as the leader in the non-national segment for the 24th consecutive year. In the Southern region, last year we have sold more than 16,000 vehicles of which 75% are from Johor with more than 12,000 units sold”, said Datuk Ismet Suki.

Datuk Ismet Suki also added that the after sales have recorded a successful growth, with more than 218,000 vehicles serviced (CPUS) last year in the Southern region and 70% of the volume is from Johor which is an additional 7% growth. These figures signify that UMW Toyota Motor’s service has won the trust of their customers in meeting their expectations.

“UMW Toyota Motor strongly believes that the automotive industry will continue to grow. We will strengthen our operations to meet our sales target of more than 100,000 units for Toyota and Lexus vehicles in order to achieve market share of more than 15%. PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U., a subsidiary of Investindustrial, has signed a licencing agreement with Ferrari to build Ferrari Land, a new Prancing Horse theme park, inside the PortAventura resort and theme park outside Barcelona in Spain. 

Ferrari Land will cover 75,000 square metres and include a variety of new and exciting attractions for Prancing Horse enthusiasts of all ages, including Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator. An opportunity for the whole family to experience and discover the world of Ferrari.

More good news is that the first Ferrari-themed hotel is also to be built inside PortAventura and will be a luxury five-star establishment with 250 rooms, restaurants and a driving simulator. 

The project will involve an overall investment of 100 million euro and the Ferrari theme park itself officially opens in 2016. PortAventura already welcomes 4,000,000 visitors a year, of whom 50% come from outside Spain.

Acquired in 2009 by Investindustrial, PortAventura has been going from strength to strength and is now the Mediterranean’s top amusement park as well as the second-ranked in Europe, thanks in large part to an investment of over 125 million euros spread over a four-year period in addition to the initial sum invested in the purchase.

PRESS RELEASE: Perodua Continues Supports For its Perodua UK Limited Distributors

Perodua will distribute operational funds worth GBP£1.2 million (RM6 million) over a period of 8 years to its distributor, Perodua UK Limited (PDUK), to continue it’s after sales services there.

The after sales services include ensuring the availability of spare parts, after sales warranty as well as normal vehicle maintenance services. 

“We wish to assure our customers in the UK that we remain committed in supporting them and our business partner (PDUK) despite no longer supplying our vehicles here,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said. 

The commitment was documented in a signing ceremony between Perodua and Perodua UK Limited at the Malaysia High Commission in London. The small yet meaningful event was witnessed by the newly appointed Malaysia High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Rashidi Hazizi.

Aminar said that Perodua would distribute the GBP£1.2 million, in installments to PDUK every quarter until the end of 2020.

Perodua first began exporting to the UK in 1998 and have sold nearly 13,000 vehicles ranging from the Kancil, which is known as the Nippa in the UK, the Perodua Kelisa, the Perodua Kenari and the Perodua Myvi.

PDUK currently has 55 service dealers under its umbrella in the UK which are located in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. 

Perodua now exports to 7 countries, which are Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Fiji, Mauritius, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

NEW LAUNCHES: Naza KIA Launches The Facelift KIA Sportage!!


Naza Kia Malaysia recently launched the highly anticipated New Sportage with the New Sportage is the second model to be introduced by Naza Kia Malaysia this year following the launch of the New Kia Optima K5 in January this year.

A bold, dynamic design with curves and lines an expression of captivating style and sharp sophistication, the New Sportage has 25 refreshing enhancements and is positioned as an urban-friendly compact SUV for today's families between the ages of 26 to 40 years-old.

Under the hood, the New Sportage is powered by Kia’s NU 2.0 MPI petrol engine which features Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing (DCVVT) which produces 154 PS and 191 Nm of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. 

For ride and handling, the New Sportage features MacPherson struts at the front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension as well as an amplitude selective damper which facilitates instant reaction in wheel movement and maintains optimal damping and level quality. This in turn leads to more precise road contact, better ride comfort and increased handling precision.

In terms of safety, the New Sportage has a five-star Euro NCAP and NHTSA safety rating which comes with six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Downhill Brake Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Assist System and Traction Control System. 

Further key features include headlamp escort, integrated LED turn signals on the side mirrors, auto headlights, electronic chromic mirror, rear parking assist system and auto cruise control.

Volkswagen Group Malaysia recently shared their plans in collaboration with their authorized dealer network and service centres to improve after-sales and customer satisfaction levels in line with the leading European automotive brand’s development plan in the country. 

As one of the first steps, Volkswagen Group Malaysia is pleased to inform that 20 authorised Volkswagen service centres in Peninsular Malaysia will open on Sundays from 9.00am to 5.00pm for maintenance service starting from 16 March 2014, providing Volkswagen owners with greater flexibility and convenience in maintaining their vehicles. 

Volkswagen owners only need to make an appointment a few working days before their desired service on Sundays in order to secure an appointment with their preferred service centre. This operating hour extension for participating dealers service centres in the country is in line with Volkswagen’s commitment to further increase customer satisfaction.

PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Kicks Off Toyota Fantastic Rewards Sales Campaign For The Month of March'14



This March, UMW Toyota is offering great deals for its most popular models in conjunction with the Toyota Fantastic Rewards sales campaign. This campaign will run until 31st March and customers are encouraged to head down to the showrooms to enjoy great savings when they purchase selected Toyota models.

Headlining the promotion is the 0.68% low interest rate* special offer for the flagship model Camry. In addition to that, customers can also enjoy low down payment rebates for the best-selling Vios and the Hilux. Those in need of space need not feel left out as they too will be entitled for attractive deals if they purchase the ever popular Innova.

In conjunction with the Toyota Fantastic Rewards sales campaign, UMW Toyota is providing opportunities for customers to come up close and personal with its exciting range of models in the showroom from the 15th – 16th March. 

Apart from the Toyota Fantastic Rewards showroom weekender, the All New Corolla Altis will be on display at selected shopping malls nationwide from 6th March – 25th May 2014. Other models such as the Vios, Hilux, Innova, Avanza will also be showcased. There will also be opportunities to test drive the All New Corolla Altis at selected locations.
