First Driving Impression of The All New Myvi "Yellow Cili Padi"!!!

As I have mentioned on the previous post, I will update the first driving impression of this all new Myvi 1.5 Litre. On 13th of September, Perodua has invited the media to have the taste of this “Yellow Cili Padi” dubbed by Perodua at Cyberview Lodge and Spa where it is the same venue that I have tasted the all new Myvi 1.3 three months ago. My heart is jumping to be invited again for the media test drive as this 1.5 Myvi has been eagerly awaited by some many petrol heads out there.

During the media Q&A, Perodua MD has informed us that this all new Myvi is the first kind in this world where with its sibling the Daihatsu Boon and Toyota Passo in Japan only comes with 1.3 Litre engine. Knowing the facts that Malaysian loves to have an accelerated drive, Perodua finally comes out this all new Myvi 1.5. Great power comes with great responsibility, thus it has been iterated by Perodua MD, having a bigger engine cc does not mean you need to drive fast and getting hurt yourself by doing it. Drive sensibility with all the power given to you and obey the road rules as being stress by the Perodua MD. The introduction of this Myvi 1.5 provides a better driveability to the customer who wanted to opt for a better acceleration car, thus Perodua giving the opportunity for the customer to have a choice between power and good urban fuel efficient.

The engine for this car is powered by 3SZ-VE engine paired with a four speed automatic transmission that is currently being soldiered on the Perodua Alza. It is essentially the same engine and the same transmission even the gear ratio of this Myvi shared the same ratio with the Alza as stated by one of Perodua engine when I interviewed him. This chain driven engine does not required its chain to be replaced thus an overall saving to the maintenance bill for the cost of owning this car. This engine also has been equipped with a self-adjusting tensioner which is a norm to all modern engines now. The peak power for this engine is 76kW at 6,000 RPM and the max torque is 136Nm at 4,400RPM before the torque dives down upon reaching 4,600RPM. This engine is also equipped with DVVT (Dynamic Variable Valve Timing) and also EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection).

Nissan Teana 2.0 XE Comfort - Full Test Drive Review

In the mid 90’s and early 2000’s the D-segment car market here in Malaysia has been dominated by the three Japanese brands mainly the Toyota, Honda and Nissan. The Camry, the Accord and the Cefiro have seen dominating the streets of Malaysia where the latter car has seen its Cefiro name change to Teana name here in Malaysia. The rest of other market still maintained the Cefiro nameplate where as in Malaysia the Teana nameplate was used. I’m not so sure why Edaran Tan Chong took this strategy approach as the Cefiro brand name is already synonymous with the Malaysian consumers.

The first generation Nissan Teana was introduced here in 2003 where it has replaced the A33 Cefiro and the car was fully imported from Japan with the price in excess of RM 200K. This exorbitant price has led to a low demand and sales for this model with the design which looks a little bit on the safe side which is not popular to the Malaysian consumer. This has led the other competitor namely the Camry and Accord to reap in the demand and sales for the past 7 years. The second generation Teana has been introduced to the world market in 2009 and I have seen the car for the first time in 2009 in Thailand gracefully strolling the roads of Bangkok. At that time, I was wondering what car is that, and a quick glance I saw the Teana nameplate and wow it leaves a very good impression on me. My first thought is the designs of the rear combination lamp really strike a pose and the overall design of the car looks like a winning formula as compared to the first generation. Kudos to the Nissan designer where they manage to tweak the uncle looks of the first generation to a more gen Y centric kind of look.

Looking at the potential of this model, Edaran Tan Chong has made a move to bring in this second generation Nissan Teana to the Malaysian market in November 2010 with a more attractive price due to its CKD assemble here at the Serendah plant. The Nissan Teana instantly has become a sales hit where it has undercuts the sales of Honda Accord in 2011 by a huge margin and trailing the Toyota Camry by a small margin. So what does this new Nissan Teana makes it so special to the customers of Malaysia. Auto Insider Malaysia will unveil in this test drive review.

Peugeot RCZ launched details-Live pictures!!

After revealing that the Peugeot RCZ will be launching this week through its press release last week, Nasim Sdn. Bhd. has finally reveal the much anticipated sexy looking Peugeot RCZ at Bangsar Shopping Center this evening. Nasim has brought in 2 model variants mainly the manual version and automatic gearbox version. Both variants were imported from Magna Steyr’s Plant in Graz Austria.

Both cars have been installed with the same power plant extracted from the Prince engine, but it was tune with in a different state to differentiate the manual and the auto tranny version. The 2+2 coupe of the automatic variant will be powered by the Prince 1.6 Liter THP engine with 156hp and 240Nm of torque blasting from as low as 1,700RPM and mated to a new 6 speed sequential automatic gearbox the “AT 6” source from Aisin that features a technology that can reduce the fuel consumption and also optimizing the CO2 emissions. With this set of engine and gearbox working in harmony, the rated fuel consumption is 7.3 liters/100km while only emitting 168g/km of CO2.

The other transmission variant is the all new 6 speed manual gearbox that is also mated to the Prince 1.6 liter engine but this engine has been tune to have 200hp of power and maximum blasting torque of 275Nm that can propelled the car to a century sprint in 7.6 second while sipping much leaner fuel of 6.9 liter of fuel and emitting 159g/km of CO2. This amazing numbers of performance is achievable through employing a twin scroll turbocharger unit, direct injection and variable lift of the intake valves adding from the current technology of VTi. I did manage to start both cars on the stage, but the grunt of the engine note of the manual variant is much livelier as compared to the automatic variant. To isolate the addition growl of the engine, Peugeot has specially developed an enhance acoustic technology dubbed “Sound System” which will deliver different harmonics according to the rate of acceleration.

Features wise, both variant comes with dynamic xenons with washers, a dynamic rear wing with two levels of deployment of 19 degree angle for speed of more than 85km/h and at speed of excess 155km/h, a 34 degree angle of rear wing will be deployed. Besides that, both cars features a 19 inch alloy wheel with a silver accent alloy rim for the automatic variant and a black accent alloy rim for the manual version. To further add the luxurious amount of kit, Peugeot has skinned the dashboard with Nappa leather to enhance the ecstatic appeal to the car. The other standard kit are electric seat with 3 memory setting and a six speaker JBL source audio system blasting from its 240W of AMP, a Bluetooth and AUX connectivity.

Feature wise, the Austrian made RCZ comes with dynamic xenons (with washers), dynamic rear wing with two levels, 19-inch alloys, auto headlights and wipers, Nappa leather (dashboard is leather lined as well), electric seats (with memory for driver) and a six-speaker JBL audio system (with 240W amp). For the manual variant, since this car is much more expensive, the money is well spend on a smaller diameter steering wheel, a larger 340mm brake disk to reduce the fade and enhance the bite of braking and also a lower anti collision bar and special hub carriers that are claimed to offer a much sharper handling.

In terms of safety features, both variants of RCZ is equipped with four airbags, ESP, ABS, EBD, EBA, anti skid regulation and dynamic stability control. In terms of colour choice, Nasim Sdn. Bhd has brought in only two colours variant mainly the Pearlescent White or Haria Grey. Once again as stated on my previous blog post, the price of Peugeot RCZ auto gearbox version is RM 218,888 and for the manual gearbox version it retails at RM 223,888 and all the prices are including the insurance of the car. The car comes with 3 years warranty from Nasim Sdn. Bhd. and Nasim expect to sell about 100 to 150 units for this whole year. So far Nasim has managed to secure 35 bookings for this car with 70% of the bookings is for the automatic gearbox variant. If you are itching to see the RCZ live, Nasim will be showcasing the RCZ at Bangsar Shopping Center from May 20 to May 22.
