PRESS RELEASE: UMW Toyota Celebrates Raya With Rumah Amal Asnaf Al Barakh


UMW Toyota Motor celebrated a “Hari Raya” with underprivileged children from Rumah Amal Asnaf Al-Barakh at their home as part of their annual Staff Volunteer CSR Programme. The event also saw the car manufacturer contributing RM10, 000 to facilitate the construction of the “Surau” next to the home to provide religious classes for the children on a daily basis. As an additional gift the children were also given duit raya.

UMW Toyota Motor’s President Datuk Ismet Suki mentioned that as part of Toyota’s philosophy of improving the quality of life and contributing to the society where they operate, UMW Toyota Motor will continue to reach out to more charitable and non-government organizations through philanthropic and social outreach activities.

“Our main purpose is to give hope and motivate these children to become the best that they can be. Even though they come from underprivileged backgrounds, we hope to inspire them with our love and care, so that they can also have the same hopes and dreams that every child should have,” says Datuk Ismet.

Globally, the original Beetle was first unveiled to the world in 1938 and ever since, over 22 million units have been sold. Here in Malaysia, the Beetle was introduced in the 1950s, quickly becoming a cult favourite and distinct icon for anyone born before the 90’s.

Today, after more than half a century of bringing happiness and creating memories for Malaysians, the Beetle has evolved to suit modern needs but still remains an icon of popular culture among the people.

Engine and Performance

The Beetle comes with a 1.2l TSI direct petrol injection turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). This turbo-charged motor pumps out 105PS and 175Nm of torque, between 1,550 and 4,100rpm; enabling the car to reach 100km/h in 10.9 seconds and goes all the way to its top speed of 180km/h. Despite excellent acceleration performance, this classic bug still returns remarkable fuel consumption with 5.9 litres/100km (or 16.9km/litre) on the combined cycle.



Safety Features

As with all Volkswagen vehicles, driver and passenger safety is always a priority with a host of uncompromising safety features, which has resulted in the Beetle receiving the highest possible Euro NCAP 5-star rating. New in the Beetle is its anti-theft alarm system with electronic immobiliser which offers maximum protection against vehicle theft. 

In addition to the anti-theft alarm system, the car comes standard with a 3-point seat belts with seat belt tensioners, safety-optimised front headrests, combined side and thorax airbags (for front passengers), as well as driver and front passenger airbags with front passenger airbag deactivation. This exciting but safe car is also equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist (BA), electronic stability control (ESC), electronic vehicle immobilisation device, hill-hold control, park distance control (PDC), and child seat anchorage points (ISOFIX). 

Interior

Emulating the feel of the classic bug, the Beetle also comes with the distinctive Beetle glove box, dash pad painted in body colour, front-centre armrest, leather gearshift knob and a multi-function leather steering wheel with control for Multi-function Display (MFD), radio and telephone.

The Beetle 1.2l TSI Design comes with the ‘RCD 310’ radio system with single CD player, Bluetooth, USB adapter cable and 8 speakers. The Beetle 1.2l TSI Sport on the other hand is further equipped with the ‘RCD 510’ touch screen radio system with 6 CD changer, USB adapter cable, SD-card slot, Bluetooth and 8 speakers, sport seats with “Vienna” leather upholstery, lumbar support, ‘Climatronic’ air conditioning system with 2-zone temperature control, along with paddle shift and cruise control.

Exterior 

At the front, the Beetle comes with Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights (1.2l TSI Sport only); electronically adjustable, foldable and heated exterior mirrors; front fog lights with static cornering lights; and 16-inch ‘Whirl’ alloy wheels with 215/60 R16 tyres.



The Beetle is currently available in five colour choices: Candy White, Tornado Red, Saturn Yellow, Toffee Brown and Deep Black. Now open for booking at all Volkswagen dealerships in Peninsular Malaysia from 15 August. The Beetle 1.2l TSI Design is priced at RM131,888 and RM142,888 for the 1.2l TSI Sport.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has added a sporty feature to its product range, the Nissan Sylphy Tuned by IMPUL.

This new variant follows the launch of the All-New Sylphy to the Malaysian market earlier this year in April. The All-New Nissan Sylphy joins the X-Gear, Grand Livina, and Almera as models that are tuned by IMPUL in Malaysia. NEWS: 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat; The Most Powerful Production Sedan!!!


Now the title of the most powerful production sedan car in the world has been awarded to the new owner which is the new 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat which can do s century sprint in 3.7 second with a top speed of 328km/h. 

This monster shares the same 6.2 litre supercharged V8 HEMI engine with the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat which produce 707hp and 880Nm of torque. This new Charger snatch the title from the BMW M5 30th Anniversery Edition which has the same century sprint time but this is only a limited edition version of the standard BMW M5


This new Dodge sedan is a rear wheel drive and it comes with 8 speed automatic transmission with rev matching features and as per Dodge Challenger, this car too comes with two key fob; the red with full 707hp potential and the black key which only limits to 500hp. To stop this monster, Dodge has included a 390mm Brembo six piston calipers at the front and a four piston calipers at the rear which is connect to 20 inch forged aluminum wheels of 275/40ZR Pirelli P Zero tyres.


Wow seeing this car, really makes change my perception and interest to the American muscle car especially coming from Dodge brand. I really love the 2015 Dodge Challenger with is muscle look and a very macho stands. If only Dodge produce the right hand drive..hmmmmmm.






















NEWS: More Teaser Info Of Perodua Axia



Perodua today unveil the latest teaser of the Perodua Axis together with some other specification details of the car. Based on the teaser page above, we can see the Axia SE or Advanced being shown on the front end of the car. In terms of the crash rating, the Axia managed to score 4 star Asean NCAP which was held here by Miros. As for the Eco credential, this car has been badge as having an EEV engine with ECO driving light indicator to remind the driver of how to drive efficiently and this car also promises to have a low Co2 emission. 

In terms of boot space, the car can easily swallow 4 bags with its 260 litre of boot space. The car also promise a spacious legroom which can be seen by the mock up model shown during last year KL Motor Show and it is further accentuate with a flexible seating arrangement. 

As being as small car, small turn radius is the main plus, and this Axia does not disappoint either, as it comes with 4.5 meter small turning radius thus going in and out a tight spot would be an easy peasy job. This would further help with having an electric power steering (EPS) which is eventually means lower fuel consumption and it is also equipped with front corner sensor which means, tight spot and parking woos is the thing of the past. 

Moving forward, this car features a 5 years warranty and promise a minimum of 20.1 l/100KM of fuel consumption.

This is just in. The price list of Perodua Axia has been leaked and forwarded to me just now. I'm not so sure whether this price is the final price approved by the government or not, but surely this will give some indication on what is the price of this new A segment car from Perodua. But the most important thing is, now we know all variants will come with the new 1000cc D26F-1KR-DE all aluminium engine and shown below is the specification details of all 4 variants of Axia. Looks like all variants will only get 2 airbags as standard with the more advance active safety system such as ABS, EBD and BA are only available for the SE and Advanced variants. In term of colour palette choice, buyers of Axia can choose from 8 colours variants with the base line model only comes with either Ivory White and Glittering Silver. Stay tune for more update!!!

PRESS RELEASE: Perodua Open Booking For Perodua Axia-Price Starts From RM24,900!!!!


Perodua is accepting bookings for its latest model, the Perodua Axia - Malaysia’s first Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) – with a tentative starting price of RM 24,900 (for Peninsular Malaysia, solid), beginning tomorrow (15 August) at its 180 sales showrooms nationwide.

The latest model is Perodua’s most fuel efficient car that can potentially travel up to 21.6 km/l, spacious, packed with unique Malaysian features and have an overall low cost of ownership – the all-in-one package for every Malaysian.

“We welcome all Malaysians to come to our sales showroom to know more about our latest and most exciting offering,” Perodua President and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said. Booking fees are RM250 and RM300 - depending on variant.

Slated to be launched soon, the Perodua Axia is the next generation Perodua model that is produced via Perodua’s modern and ecologically-friendlier new manufacturing plant. 

Among the key features of the plant include a water-based paint formula, which is less abrasive compared with the solvent based paints it currently uses. The high level of automation also improves quality while at the same time reduces cost.

The name “Axia” (pronounced a-zee-a) is chosen by combining the word Asia, while including the “X” as a roman numeral for the number 10 – representing Perodua’s 10th model. 

“We believe that the Perodua Axia is competitive in the region, which is why the word “Asia” was incorporated into the name; in addition, this vehicle also represents a whole new standard for us.”

“This standard can be categorised by 4 key highlights, which are environmentally friendly, very spacious for a compact vehicle, easy driving and economical in terms of the overall cost of ownership,” Aminar said.

The Perodua Axia comes in 4 variants; Standard E, Standard G, Special Edition and Advance. It also comes with a 5-year warranty – another first for Perodua.

NEWS: Edaran Tan Chong To Lunch Several New Models Before The Year Ends!!!


Looks like Edaran Tan Chong is busy preparing the final push for the 3rd quarter and 4th quarter of this year with several new launches under is belt which includes Nissan and Infiniti. Yesterday during the Hari Raya Media Gathering, the head honcho of ETCM has indicated two new model will be launching before the year ends which is the Nissan X-Trail which will be local assemble before the end of the year and also Infiniti Q50 which is expected to be launched at the end of this month.

The Nissan X-Trail was launched last year at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show has received rave reviews with its new front face of Nissan V-Motion grill, LED daytime running light and C shaped tail lamps and this SUV is powered by two engine choices such as a 2 litre MRD20DD and 2.5 litre QR25DE which both units are four cylinder engine which is mated to a six virtual gears of Xtronic CVT gearbox. The power output for the 2 litre engine is 142hp with 200Nm of torque and for the 2.5 litre, the power output is 169hp with 226Nm of torque.


The next model which is the Infiniti Q50 has been publicly previewed here in Malaysia during 2013 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show and this new car has seen as the indicative design language of the upcoming models from the Infiniti brand. Honed and co-developed by the F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, this car promise to be a fun car to drive with its world first drive by wire electric power steering. 

This car will coming in two guises with the based model Infiniti Q50 2.0T, a turbo charge 2 litre engine from Mercedes engine that powered the W212 E-Class facelift with power output of 211hp and 350Nm of torque and the second variant will be in the guise of Q50 S-Hybrid with total power output of 364hp and 546 Nm of torque. An indicated price also has been announced by ETCM head honcho with the 2.0T retails below RM250K and for tthe S-Hybrid the indicative price is below RM400K.

Summernats Malaysia, which will be held from 29 to 31 August 2014 at the Sepang International Circuit, is calling on all running and cycling enthusiasts to be part of a rare opportunity to do what they love together on Merdeka Day.

Members of the public will have a chance of participating in an “11.08km Merdeka Run” and the "Biggest Merdeka Summernats Bicycle Gathering" which will be taking place this on 31 August on the Sepang Formula One racing track. The "Biggest Merdeka Summernats Bicycle Gathering" will also enable cyclists to explore the Formula One and MotoGP racing track for two hours.

Participants who register before the closing date of 15 August 2014 for the “Sepang 11.08km Merdeka Run” need only pay a nominal fee of RM30. Finishers will receive a medal and certificate of participation. The "Biggest Merdeka Summernats Bicycle Gathering" meanwhile, will be free for cyclists who register before the closing date of 9 August 2014, and RM50 for those who register later which is also inclusive of a certificate of participation for those who participate in the two-hour event.

Enthusiasts and visitors to Summernats Malaysia are encouraged to also download its mobile application “Summernats Malaysia” on Google Play and Apple App Store which provides convenient information retrieval of the event, ticket purchasing and registration. PRESS RELEASE: ETCM Promotes Safety Driving Programme for Malaysian Nissan Owners!!!



Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), as part of its initiative to promote smart and safe driving under the 2014 Nissan Safety Campaign, will be conducting a Safety Driving Programme for Nissan owners in Malaysia. 

The Nissan Safety Programme aims to educate owners on handling various driving conditions, combining technology and driving skills in order to avoid potential road hazard. With an entrance fee of only RM 100 per person, this workshop works to instil confidence and better equip participants on the right driving techniques when facing road incidents. Registration is now open, and will close on 29 August 2014.

Conducted over approximately 6 hours, the Nissan Safety Driving Programme will consist of a theory session and five practical courses where participants will be taught on how to avoid accidents, control skid, emergency braking and slalom exercise techniques on obstacle courses. Participants will also be assessed with a series of tests to measure the level of their driving skills.

In addressing his concerns on safe driving, Dato’ David Chen, Executive Director of ETCM, said, “This Campaign isn’t just a way for ETCM to support the Government’s efforts in reducing road accidents, but as a car company, it is also our responsibility to work together to enhance road safety and ensure our customers are well aware of the various driving conditions in order to overcome potential road hazards. Thus, I would like to invite Nissan owners to participate in this Nissan Safety Driving Programme to better equip themselves with valuable skills that will certainly benefit them and their loved ones.”

PRESS RELEASE: VW Group Posted Solid Business Growth In The First Half Of 2014!!!


The Volkswagen Group reported solid business growth in the first six months of 2014 despite the ongoing difficult market environment. At EUR 98.8 billion (EUR 98.7 billion), sales revenue in the first six months was only slightly up on the prior-year period due to significant negative exchange rate effects. 

Operating profit grew by 7.0 percent to EUR 6.2 billion (EUR 5.8 billion) and the operating return on sales rose to 6.3 percent (5.9 percent). The Group’s operating profit and sales revenue exclude the activities of the Chinese joint ventures, which are accounted for in the financial result using the equity method and are therefore not included in consolidated operating profit. The share of operating profit attributable to the Chinese joint ventures in the first half of 2014 was EUR 2.6 billion (EUR 2.4 billion). 

The Volkswagen Group’s profit before tax amounted to EUR 7.8 billion (EUR 6.6 billion). The return on sales before tax rose to 7.9 percent (6.7 percent) in the first six months, due among other factors to measurement effects in the financial result. Profit after tax was EUR 5.7 billion (EUR 4.8 billion). “Despite headwinds, our financial performance in the first six months was good. In light of the continued strong competitive pressures, the tense situation in some emerging economies and the fundamental technical and economic changes happening in our industry, we are working hard to create all the conditions we need today to ensure success tomorrow. I am confident that we will not flinch from the path we have chosen”, said Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, in Wolfsburg on Thursday. 

Global demand for passenger cars continued to rise in the first six months of 2014. However, the pace of growth eased off and trends were mixed at a regional level. The number of new registrations in the Asia-Pacific region, Western Europe, North America and Central Europe increased year-on-year, while the markets in South America and Eastern Europe recorded market volumes that were significantly lower year-on-year in some cases. “The macroeconomic situation has rarely been so volatile and fragmented – from exchange rates down to the declines in the emerging economies. That’s why it’s more important than ever before for us to stick to our disciplined cost and investment management and to maintain our solid financial position so that we can achieve our profitability targets and strategic goals for 2018”, said Chief Financial Officer Hans Dieter Pötsch.

Net liquidity in the Automotive Division amounted to EUR 14.0 billion at the end of June (December 31, 2013: EUR 16.9 billion). The acquisition of the Scania shares and the capital increase at the Financial Services Division reduced liquidity, while the capital increase from issuing new preferred shares and the successful placement of hybrid notes strengthened the Automotive Division’s capital base. Investments in property, plant and equipment (capex) in the Automotive Division declined slightly to EUR 3.6 billion (EUR 3.9 billion). The Volkswagen Group maintained its disciplined approach to investment with a ratio of capex to sales revenue in the Automotive Division of 4.1 percent (4.5 percent). Investments were made primarily in production facilities and in the models to be launched in 2014 and 2015, as well as in the ecological focus of the model range.

Brands and business fields

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand recorded an operating profit of EUR 1.0 billion (EUR 1.5 billion) in the first six months of 2014. Operating profit was negatively impacted by lower volumes, negative exchange rate trends and higher upfront investments in new technologies. It should be noted that this figure does not include the Chinese joint ventures. 

The operating margin reached 2.1 percent (3.0 percent) in the first six months. The Volkswagen brand has launched an efficiency program in order to reach its target operating return on sales of at least six percent by no later than 2018. 

Audi’s operating profit was roughly on a level with the previous year, at EUR 2.7 billion (EUR 2.6 billion). Earnings growth was impacted by negative exchange rate effects, high upfront investments in new products and technologies, as well as in the expansion of the international production network. The operating margin was 10.0 percent (10.5 percent).

ŠKODA generated an operating profit of EUR 425 million (EUR 243 million) in the first half of 2014, a considerable increase compared with the previous year on the back of volume and mix-related factors. The operating margin in the first six months was 7.1 percent (4.9 percent).

Positive volume, mix and product cost effects helped SEAT improve its operating result to EUR – 37 million (EUR – 40 million). Bentley’s operating profit climbed year-on-year to EUR 95 million (EUR 58 million), and its operating margin was 10.7 percent (8.3 percent).

Porsche recorded an operating profit of EUR 1.4 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) and an operating margin of 17.1 percent (18.4 percent) in the first six months. 

Operating profit at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles rose by 13.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 280 million (EUR 246 million). The operating margin was 5.9 percent (5.2 percent).

Scania posted an operating profit of EUR 476 million (EUR 464 million) and an operating margin of 9.4 percent (9.1 percent). MAN generated an operating profit of EUR 222 million (previous year: operating loss of EUR 124 million) and an operating return on sales of 3.3 percent. 

Volkswagen Financial Services generated an operating profit of EUR 776 million (EUR 696 million) in the first six months of 2014, a year-on-year increase of 11.5 percent. Worldwide 2.3 million new financing, leasing and service/insurance contracts were signed(+ 16.1 percent). 

Winterkorn: “We want to be a leader in shaping the future of the automobile.”

The Volkswagen Group will press ahead with its product initiative across all brands in 2014, modernizing and expanding its offering by introducing attractive new vehicles. Volkswagen is expecting a moderate increase in deliveries to customers in fiscal year 2014. Challenges for the Group will come from the difficult market environment and fierce competition, as well as interest rate and exchange rate volatility and fluctuations in raw materials prices. Volkswagen believes that the modular toolkit system, which is being continuously expanded, will have an increasingly positive effect on the Group’s cost structure. 

The outlook for the current year was reiterated. Depending on economic conditions, Volkswagen is expecting 2014 sales revenue for the Group and its business areas to move within a range of 3 percent around the prior-year figure. In terms of the Group’s operating profit, Volkswagen is forecasting an operating return on sales of between 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent in 2014 in light of the challenging economic environment, and the same range for the Passenger Cars Business Area. 

The Group expects the Commercial Vehicles/Power Engineering Business Area to moderately exceed the 2013 figure. Volkswagen anticipates an operating return on sales of between 8.0 percent and 9.0 percent in the Financial Services Division. 

“Our Group has recorded strong growth in recent years. This offers us many opportunities across all of our brands to become more efficient and to leverage synergies – our urgent priority is now to exploit this potential”, said Winterkorn, adding: “Our ambition is to be a leader in shaping the future of the automobile. We are now creating the conditions for doing that with our ‘Future Tracks’, our Group wide future and efficiency orientated program.”

A great day for Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila, a great day for Volkswagen, and a great day for Finland: for the first time in four years, a Finnish duo triumphed in their home event in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), giving their compatriots reason to celebrate with abandon. Latvala/Anttila won ‘their’ rally in the Polo R WRC in what proved to be a veritable thriller all the way to the finishing line, clinching victory over their teammates Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) by just 3.6 seconds. Volkswagen’s excellent team success in the toughest rally of the year was rounded off by Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene (N/N) finishing in fourth place overall. Volkswagen has therefore equalled its best team result to date in the WRC, which it set at Rally Argentina in May. The rally known as ‘Formula 1 in the forest’ marks the twelfth consecutive rally win for the Wolfsburg-based team, and is also its eighth win in the current season. Ahead of Rally Germany, Volkswagen therefore has match balls to clinch all three WRC championship titles – for the manufacturer, the driver and the co-driver.

“It’s been a fantastic weekend at Rally Finland,” said Dr Heinz-Jakob Neußer, Volkswagen Board Member for Technical Development, who was in Finland to support the Volkswagen team. “Both Jari-Matti Latvala and Sébastien Ogier dominated 25 of the 26 special stages and the final day of the rally couldn’t have been more exciting. There was no knowing who would actually win the rally until they finally crossed the line. The Power Stage once again demonstrated what the team and the Polo R WRC are capable of. We are very happy with the result in Finland and congratulate Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila on this huge success in front of a home crowd.”

Recipe for success: good self-confidence and a healthy dose of ‘sisu’

The Finnish word ‘sisu’ is the most accurate way to describe the key to Jari-Matti Latvala’s success in his home event. ‘Sisu’ is said to be untranslatable, but can be loosely translated as power, stamina or tenacity, and also intransigence or fighting spirit. And Jari-Matti Latvala demonstrated all of these during Rally Finland. On the second day of the rally, Latvala, who is second in the championship, dominated the proceedings in the morning, but had something of a setback in the afternoon. Having hit a large pothole during the 20th special stage, a damaged brake line left him with no braking power on the front right-hand wheel, which caused him to lose around 27 seconds of his lead. Latvala therefore tackled the final three special stages on Sunday with a very slim lead of just 3.4 seconds, and demonstrated not only his driving skills, but also his mental strength.

Since the start of the 2014 season, Jari-Matti Latvala has also been drawing on the support of mental trainer Christoph Treier. Latvala was therefore relaxed during the special stages in his home event, in spite of the huge public expectations and his extremely high motivation. And this resulted in success, with Latvala/Anttila securing 14 of the 26 possible fastest times in the rally. 

Prestige duel to the very last metre: Latvala vs. Ogier

Rally Finland, which is considered to be the mother of all WRC rallies, was very much all about Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila and their Volkswagen teammates Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia this year, with 25 of the 26 possible best times being scored by one or the other of the two Volkswagen duos. The only rivals who were able to keep pace were Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle (GB/IRL, Citroën), who picked up one fastest time and finished in third place overall. The Latvala vs. Ogier duel narrowed to a difference of 3.7 seconds ahead of the final Power Stage, and was then reduced further to 3.6 seconds at the finishing line. On multiple occasions during their high-octane duel, Latvala and Ogier hit a top speed of 200 kilometres per hour, at which point their speed was kept in check by the speed limiters. With countless jumps, some as far as 60 metres, and also plenty of blind hill crests and corners, the WRC drivers had to deliver maximum precision. And for the 38th time in the history of the WRC, a rally was won with a margin of less then ten seconds.

Great success, part two: match balls for Volkswagen head of home event in Germany

Thanks to its one-two victory in Finland, Volkswagen has extended its lead in the manufacturers’ standings in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) to 175 points over their closest rival Citroën. This therefore gives Volkswagen its first match ball ahead of the brand’s own home event, Rally Germany: if it succeeds in defending a 172-point lead, the manufacturers’ championship title will go to Wolfsburg for the second year in a row. The German rally could also be a decider in favour of Volkswagen in the drivers’ standings too: following Rally Finland, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia have a lead of 121 points over the best non-Volkswagen duo, Mads Østberg/Jonas Andersson (N/S, Citroën). If they still have a lead of 112 points after Rally Germany, it will definitely be a Volkswagen duo who will celebrate victory in the drivers’ and co-drivers’ standings. Ogier/Ingrassia are currently in the lead on 187 points, followed by their teammates Latvala/Anttila (143 points) and Mikkelsen (95 points).

Facts, facts, facts: actual and potential records

With Rally Finland now over, Volkswagen has racked up a total of 19,996.66 kilometres during 391 special stages since it joined the WRC with the Polo R WRC in January 2013. This is equivalent to driving half way round the globe – at a rally pace, of course. During this period, Volkswagen has scored 269 fastest times and a total of 618 top-three times. Volkswagen has celebrated victory 18 times out of 21 WRC rallies, twelve of which it has scored in succession across two seasons. And by winning in Finland, Volkswagen has matched the previous best of eight wins in the same season, which Citroën achieved in 2011. For Volkswagen, the eighth rally of the season gave it its fifth one-two win of the year, and the seventh such win overall. Jari-Matti Latvala celebrated his 44th podium finish in the WRC, twelve of which he has achieved with Volkswagen. It was also his eleventh outright win, and his fourth such win in the Polo R WRC.

The icing on the cake: bonus points for Volkswagen drivers in the Power Stage

To date, Volkswagen has picked up Power Stage bonus points on 37 occasions – in the 20 Power Stages held so far. In addition, Ogier/Ingrassia gave Volkswagen its 15th consecutive Power Stage win in Finland. Latvala, the winner of the 2014 Rally Finland, has won five Power Stages in his WRC career, two of which with Volkswagen. Ogier meanwhile has a tally of 15 Power Stage wins, eleven of which with Volkswagen. And Mikkelsen also has one Power Stage win to his name, a victory he scored in the Polo R WRC.
