Hailing from 14 primary and secondary schools within the Batu Pahat district, the students and their families were feted to a special “Back-to-School” event held at Perodua’s new service branch here today.

Yang Berhormat Tuan Hj Ja’affar Hashim, who is the state assemblyman for Senggarang, Johor handed over RM100 cash, a school bag and stationeries worth RM50 from Perodua to each of the students.

Perodua Managing Director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said, “Perodua marks its 18th anniversary this year and our tagline “Building Cars, People First” not only pays homage to all the people who have contributed to our success but also serves as a reminder of how important our community is to our well-being and success.”

“Children, being the country’s future leaders, must be given much encouragement, incentives and goals to strive for in order to be worthy individuals.  Perodua wants them to make full use of the bountiful opportunities at school and to work to secure a good education foundation for their future.”

“This yearly Back-to-School event is usually held in the Klang Valley but this year, Perodua wants to reach out to the other communities where we also operate,” Aminar said.

This programme will also help ease the financial burden of the parents and guardians of the underprivileged students for the new school term, he said.

Touching on Perodua’s new and bigger service centre located at Jalan Zabedah here, Aminar said Perodua is committed in serving the customers better at the new RM3 million outlet.

Opened in March this year, the centre’s service intake capacity has doubled with the availability of 17 service bays compared with 8 bays at the previous service outlet located 500 metres away. It is also equipped with 45 customers parking bays including 2 bays for people with different abilities (OKU) while the customer’s lounge is now bigger and better equipped.

Meanwhile, Perodua also donated RM20,000 to help ease the burden of the flood victims from Kampung Parit Haji Kamisan, Yong Peng, Batu Pahat. Aminar handed the cheque to Encik Ruslan Saat, the special assistant to the Member of Parliament Batu Pahat, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, who is also the Deputy Education Minister, on behalf of the victims.

“Perodua empathizes with those affected by the recent floods and hope that the contributions will ease some of the financial burden faced by the victims,” Aminar said.

At the same function, Aminar also presented a cheque from the group term life and personal insurance to the family of the late Mohd Nizam bin Rohani @ Mohamad, a Peodua executive who died in a road accident during the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
