PRESS RELEASE: Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Delighted Its Customers With "Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia" Convoy

Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) recently delighted its customers with an unforgettable experience by organising the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 with the theme of ‘Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia’, in conjunction with the AFF Suzuki Cup final between Malaysia and Thailand.

Suzuki have been the proud title sponsor for the most prestigious football tournament in Southeast Asia since 2008, and with Malaysia’s very own Harimau Malaya playing in the final on home turf at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Suzuki Malaysia decided to drum up support for Team Malaysia through the ‘Suzuki Ayuh Malaysia’ campaign and by organising a special convoy for Suzuki customers and enthusiasts to drive their Suzuki cars to the National Stadium and catch the final match live while supporting Team Malaysia as best they can.

As part of Suzuki Malaysia’s long term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, 23 children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg. Judah, a school for Orang Asli on Pulau Carey, Port Klang enjoyed the time of their lives as they walked out onto the pitch with the players from both teams as Player Escorts just before kick-off. This was also Suzuki Malaysia’s commitment towards aiding in the development of a more knowledgeable, dynamic and motivated community.

“It is hoped that such an initiative will encourage the students of SK Sg. Judah to value their education, which will ultimately provide them with better opportunities that will greatly enrich their lives,” stated Mr. Keiichi Suzuki, Managing Director for Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd.

About 150 Suzuki customers and enthusiasts in more than 50 various Suzuki cars from all over the country took part in the convoy that started off from Suzuki’s 3S Centre at Setia Gemilang Auto in Shah Alam, all the way through the hustle and bustle of the Klang Valley to its final destination at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The colourful convoy of various Suzuki cars were flagged off from Setia Gemilang Auto by Mr. Keiichi Suzuki on Saturday afternoon after lunch and some exciting activities which included a lucky draw where awesome prizes of officially signed Team Malaysia balls were given away.

Mr. Keiichi Suzuki commented, “We organized this AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 and accompanying activities as a means of showing our gratitude and appreciation for the strong support we have received from our loyal customers. They get to cherish and share a memorable experience together against the backdrop of a patriotic and electrifying atmosphere of a cup final match involving the Malaysian national football team. The customers’ enthusiasm and patriotism mirrored the true Suzuki spirit.”

Throughout the drive to the National Stadium, the convoy drew a lot of attention, not just looks, stares and smiles, but also honking of the horn and shouts of “Malaysia!” from other road users, as it is not every day that Malaysians get to see so many different Suzuki cars proudly flying the Malaysian flag in a Police guided convoy.

Upon reaching the National stadium, Suzuki customers and enthusiasts were treated to fun and games at the Suzuki booth. Apart from enjoying themselves taking part in mini games and getting their faces on with face painting, they also enjoyed entertaining performances from Freestylers and Drum Liners, with many of them trying to make their best guesses for the Guess the Score contest to win signed Team Malaysia jersey and balls.

Brothers Prakash and Yoganraj Rajasekharan from Puchong, Selangor, who joined the convoy in their 3 year old White Suzuki Swift, were thrilled and excited to be a part of the convoy.

“We are very happy to be a part of the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 as through Suzuki Malaysia, we got to watch and support Harimau Malaya play in a cup final match, and it is an unforgettable experience that we will cherish. I am very pleased that I bought a Suzuki, as after such a wonderful experience, if I do change my car in the future, top on my list will be a Suzuki for sure!”, said a delighted Prakash.

Mr. Keiichi Suzuki added, “The overwhelming response and support that we have received for the AFF Suzuki Cup Convoy 2014 has convinced us that our customers thoroughly appreciate our efforts in organising such events for their benefit, as they are outgoing and truly living out the Suzuki ‘Way of Life!’.”

Husband and wife couple Mohd Faidzal Surep and Effa Izuan Abdul Jabar from Batu Pahat, Johor, who took part in the convoy in their Superior White Suzuki Swift Sport, were overjoyed with the convoy and the cup final as it exceeded their expectations.

“We came all the way from down south as we are firm Suzuki fans and we did not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the cup final match live. Even though Malaysia did not win the Suzuki Cup, we are proud to be Malaysians and more than happy to lend our support for the Harimau Malaya team thanks to Suzuki Malaysia who made all of this possible. We are both excited and grateful to Suzuki as it is a brand that allows us to enjoy so many interesting experiences, so we are eagerly looking forward to more organised activities such as this in the future to enjoy this unique Suzuki lifestyle”, said an enthusiastic Mohd Faidzal.

After the match during the prize giving ceremony, Mr. Keiichi Suzuki was given the special honour of presenting the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award to Thailand’s Chanathip Songkrasin.

The participants enjoyed the convoy and the match especially, with many stating that they would definitely participate in such organised activities in the future. With such an overwhelmingly good response, Suzuki Malaysia will continue to organise similar events for the benefit of all Suzuki owners and enthusiasts in Malaysia.
