PRESS RELEASE: VW Malaysia Bags Two ASEAN COTY 2014 Awards For Golf and Golf R!!!

Volkswagen Malaysia recently announced that The Golf and The Golf R, were honoured respectively at the Autocar ASEAN COTY 2014 Awards and NST/Maybank Car of the Year (COTY) 2014. 

Adding to its ensemble of awards, the seventh generation Golf 1.4 TSI surpassed other vehicles to defend its top spot in the Midsize Saloon / Hatchback category for the second consecutive year at the Autocar ASEAN COTY 2014 Awards while The Golf R topped the score charts in the Hot-hatch category.

The Golf R’s winning streak continued when it also won Performance Car of the Year category of the NST/Maybank Car of the Year (COTY) 2014. The 280PS hot-hatch outrivaled other vehicles to top the podium.

In both Awards, The Golf 1.4 TSI and Golf R were subjected to intense analysis by experienced judges from the automotive industry. 

Since its launch in Malaysia in March 2013, The Golf 1.4 TSI was named both the European Car of the Year 2013 and World Car of the Year 2013 awards. It exudes a maximum 250Nm of torque while recording an official fuel consumption rate of only 5.0l/100km – offering consumers both power and fuel efficiency.

In its fourth generation, the Golf R is a compact powerhouse with a 2.0-litre newly designed turbocharged petrol direct-injection (TSI) engine that develops 380Nm of torque and 280PS with a 0 – 100 acceleration within 5.0 seconds. The Golf R produces sportiness in the fast lane with a formidable combination of cutting-edge racing technology, pure power and everyday drivability.

Priced respectively at RM 159,888 and from RM 245,888, The Golf 1.4 TSI and Golf R are available for test drive sessions at authorized Volkswagen showrooms nationwide.
