Attack of The Clones, Advancement of China Car Company.

During the upcoming Beijing Auto Show that will be held from April 23 to 27, a relatively unknown Chinese company called IAT-Auto will showcase 3 new concepts studies. The most interesting prototype will be the Wu Feng II which essentially a compact coupe with gullwing style doors which is rumoured to have a top speed of 200km/h and can reach a blazing fast of 100km/h in 7 seconds. The other concept that will be showcase is the eTaxi, a mid size sedan powered by an electric motor and the other concept is an electric vehicle Bamboo Wind, which is a futuristic small MPV.

As you wonder, what the nature of business of this company, the answer is, the company mainly engages in the development and design of automobiles, engine and power train and with the recent push for a greener car, the all electric and hybrid car will be a normal scene in the next few years. The best fact would be the investment made by Warren Buffet which has invested heavily in BYD for $230 million buying up 10% of the stake in the company. This is a clear indication of what will be installed in front of us in the next couple of year. Speaking of Chinese car company, to tell you the truth, I’m very impressed with their talent and perseverance to produce a good and quality cars.

The design language has seen tremendous change in the past year, and they are catching up with the Korean in a very fast pace. The evidence was when I attended the Bangkok Motor Show in April last year. There is showcase of cars from the Chinese companies and the highlight was from the company Cherry. One of the cars that they showcase truly impressed me. The design is fantastic just the only let down is the inconsistent of gaps, built quality and the material that they use for the cars. Give them 5 years time and I think they will even manage to pass our national car maker be it neither Proton nor Perodua.
